Ashwood Spencer Academy are proud to announce that we have been awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM). This is a standard for assessing schools against a nationally recognised framework on inclusion. The framework consists of eight elements which include all practical parts of the life of a school relating to inclusion in its widest sense. The school was assessed over two days on 17th & 18th October 2022. During our assessment the assessor conducted learning walks, looked at pupils’ books and held meetings with members of the Senior Leadership Team, pupils, governors, parents, teachers and teaching assistants.
The assessor’s report praised Ashwood Spencer Academy, stating;
The academy provides a welcoming and safe environment that has been purposefully and deliberately thought out to best meet the needs of all pupils, creating a nurturing supportive feel. Pupils recognise this and appreciate it with one pupil commenting that they liked school because “it is full of beautiful things.”
In addition, he stated;
Pupils have a positive attitude to their learning and feel safe in school. This is evident through their high level of engagement and full participation in lessons.
As a school, we are delighted that the hard work of everyone; children, parents, staff and governors, has been recognised in this way.
